      State Tournament FAQ's

      Q. Can we send more appraisers—just in case of an emergency--than the policy requires?

      A. Yes. As long as the additional appraiser has been trained and is registered with our Appraiser Coordinator, Tina Harvey, he/she may represent your team.

      Q. How will you know not to penalize my team if I have sent an "extra appraiser"?

      A. Our Appraiser Coordinator, Tina Harvey, will have appraisers "sorted" according to school, region, challenge, and team [represented]. If any of the CM’s indicate a "NO SHOW" from their assigned roster, Tina will go to the region’s roster and reassign one of the "extra" appraisers.

      Q. My team’s appraiser is not judging our challenge. How will I know if he/she shows up?

      A. The list of appraisers who register the morning of the tournament will be available at the team registration table. If you would like to contact your appraiser personally the morning of the tournament, please do so prior to the first performance in the challenge he/she is judging. As you know, cell phones must be turned off when the competition begins.

      Q. How do I know if my Regional Director sent in any names of additional appraisers?

      A. For an immediate response, ask him/her. Later, Tina Harvey will know.

      Q. Can Team Managers from my region appraise at the state competition if their teams did not advance?

      A. Yes, the Governing Board recognizes that Team Managers—especially since they’ve often been "involved" with the challenge longer than many Appraisers— make excellent appraisers. They will need to be trained, however. Please contact Tina Harvey for further details if you have a TM who would like to appraise.

      Q. My team has a conflict with the time assigned to us in the tentative schedule. Can anything be done?

      A. Yes, every effort will be made to resolve legitimate schedule conflicts. Please place these requests in writing and send them to Leslie Gabbert, Tournament Director, at the following email address: lsgabbert@gmail.com

PLEASE WRITE "DI TOURNAMENT CONFLICT" IN THE SUBJECT LINE SO YOUR REQUEST IS NOT ACCIDENTALLY DELETED WITH THE "DAILY SPAM."

Note: All requests for schedule change will be acknowledged within 24 hours by an email reply. If you do not receive a reply, send a second e-mail with the subject filled out as indicated above.
