"We have three costumes--Jessica and Kalli, you want to match, right? And Hannah, what makes a good
pirate?" We paraded through the
children's thrift store on a mission, Kalli's mother,
Nancy, and my older daughter, Lydia,
there to assist. Nancy
took the two girls to one side of the store, where they found two peach
flowered dresses. Ugly,
yes, but matching. Trying them
on, Kalli was not satisfied. They went back, ruffling through the aisles,
clearly with two very different styles in mind. These girls were playing sisters, and in true
form, were opposites. Spaghetti straps--Kalli's style; modest--Jessica’s. Well, at least they had agreed on dresses,
not pants. After much debate, a
compromise was found. Two purple dresses,
complete with hats, were purchased.
Hannah quickly nabbed all black, and on to the fabric store. Could accessorizing be this complicated?
