Destination Imagination Begins...

It is the first Destination Imagination meeting, and the team is brimming with excitement.  I pick the team up from school, and the anticipation rises as teachers and envious students watch wide-eyed as the seven team members dance out the school doors and down to their awaiting chariot--appropriately, a dark blue passenger van aged with the marks of children's play inside and out.

When we arrive at the house, kids and book bags noisily tumble out of the van and scatter in all directions.  "Come in!" I call uselessly to boys and girls already in the goat pen, with a path of school apparel strewn between house and barn.  I go in, with only Kalli to keep me company, and prepare the snack.  As the kids tire--or curiosity overcomes energy--they filter in and crawl under and over the table to arrive segregated, boys on the bench, girls on the chairs.

I slide out of the room, still within hearing distance, though not in sight.

"Let's trick her!" the boys say, and a plan is hatched.

"Jason!  Cole!" I say firmly, hoping to hide my laughter, "throw away your trash."

"I'm not Jason," says the boy on the right.  "I'm Cole."

"Yeah.  And I'm not Cole!  I'm Jason!" says the dark haired boy who suits his name.

"Oh, I see," I back out of the room before a broad smile surfaces.  Kevin and Jason, who I would spend plenty of time confusing, are twins.  I guess it gets monotonous to only be confused with one person your whole life.
