A Sleigh Ride

What a day for DI!  The kids had worked hard, creating a wooden briefcase to house the bridge and painting the cardboard castle and water props.  We had twenty minutes to go.  Would it be snack or fun?  We took a poll, and although the majority of the kids wanted snack, John and I overrode them for fun.

"Coats on!  We're going outside!"  The group begrudgingly donned their jackets.

John pulled out his four-wheeler and untangled the sleds that were hooked on the back.  "Me firsts!"  began to ring out, but the girls were quick, and Jessica, Kalli, Natalie and Hannah boarded before the boys were outside.  As the girls spun in circles behind John, squealing in fright and delight, Jason, Kevin and Cole decided it was time for a snowball battle--and I was the target.  With a mound of fresh snow between us, the bombardment began--with the girls joining in as they rolled off the sleds, exhausted already.

Many more times around the front field, John even let me drive, and the day of team building was complete--each child hoping next time, the snow would be heavy and snack--what snack?  Maybe we could do without that occasionally.
